Point Foundation Scholars Champion LGBT History Month 2015
Celebrations Include Harvard, Penn and Columbia

October 13, 2015, Philadelphia, PA. “Point Foundation is excited to partner with Equality Forum this year to present our scholars with the LGBT History Month Community Service Project opportunity.  We are proud that our scholars, the future leaders of the LGBTQ movement, will be helping to highlight the incredible achievements of 31 Icons from our community, all of whom are worthy role models for LGBTQ youth,” stated Jonathan Rosales, Program Director, Point Foundation.

LGBT History Month is a free online educational resource. Each day in October a different Icon is featured with a video, biography, bibliography and downloadable resources. LGBT History Month 2015 is the 10th Anniversary with all 310 Icons with resources archived in a cloud with 150 tags.

“LGBTQ history is unfortunately not talked about very often, and when it is talked about, it is done in a way that can exclude members of the LGBTQ community. Through partnering with Equality Forum, I am very excited to host an event on my campus that can not only educate students on LGBTQ history, but also allows them to talk about why learning LGBT history is important,” said Point Scholar Ashley Burnside, University of Michigan undergraduate.

“We’re pleased by the enthusiasm of Point Foundation Scholars for LGBT History Month. Through the leadership of Point Scholar Atticus DeProspo, a first-year law student, it is the first time that LGBT History Month will be celebrated at the University of Alabama,” stated Malcolm Lazin, Executive Director, Equality Forum.
